The values of a law firm are most apparent when it engages the community it serves. At Tesfaye Law, we believe it is our privilege and obligation to volunteer our services to those who would face abuse and injustice without competent legal representation. Many in our community have had economic problems interfere with obtaining quality legal counsel and we consider it crucial to volunteer our skills to those who need it most. As part of our commitment to providing equal access to justice, Tesfaye Law has taken on pro bono matters. Already, we have helped unite families by assisting them with their immigration matters. We have helped a small business owner combat aggressive debt collection tactics. We have assisted a single mother maintain custody of her children.
Our finest hours are times spent on pro bono work. Toward that end, the Virginia office of Tesfaye Law would like to formally announce its pro bono program (Our Maryland office will soon announce its availability to accept pro bono matters). Once a month, we will provide free legal counsel to individuals, as well as groups and organizations that work on issues of social justice and serve the underserved. Once our pro bono commitment for a given month is met, we will initiate a waiting list and address our pro bono matters on a first come first served basis. Not everyone who needs pro bono legal assistance will benefit from our program. For those we cannot help, we will refer them to non-profit agencies who can help. If you need a lawyer and cannot afford one, contact us. We may be able to help.
