Juliana “Juls” O’Neill is an Associate at the Virginia office of Tesfaye | Amare, PLLC. She primarily handles family law, wills and trusts, and bankruptcy.
Juls graduated from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan with a degree in mathematics and English. She earned her J.D. from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and is licensed to practice law in Virginia and in DC. While in law school, she enjoyed participating in the Child Advocacy Clinic and Elder Law Clinic in addition to serving as the Law Review’s Notes and Comments Editor and the Pro Bono Board’s Co-Director. She was also a Teaching Assistant for Wake’s legal writing classes and an intern for both the Catholic Diocese of Arlington’s General Counsel and the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan’s Civil Court. She spent her last semester of law school interning with International Justice Mission, which is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violent oppression.
After passing the Virginia Bar, Juls worked as an Associate Attorney at a small general civil litigation firm in Northern Virginia, where she met founding partner of Tesfaye | Amare, PLLC, Girum Tesfaye. During her time there, Juls represented clients in contested and uncontested divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, adoption, and guardianship proceedings in Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford, and Loudoun County. In addition to family law matters, she handled cases in the Alexandria Division of the Eastern District of Virginia, including several Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases in Bankruptcy Court. Juls also volunteers as a Pro Bono Attorney with Good Samaritan Advocates and Hogar Immigrant Services, which are legal aid organizations that serves lower income clients throughout Northern Virginia.
Juls grew up in Lansing, Michigan. In her free time, Juls enjoys traveling throughout the United States and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite place is summertime at Catholic Youth Organization Girls Camp on the shore of Lake Huron, Michigan, where she was the director for several years. She currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
